STEP-G donates to charity Kinderschutzbund MSH e.V.

| STEP-G

For many years, the staff and companies in the STEP-G group have been making donations to social and charity organisations in the regions of the companies’ locations. This year, ST Extruded Products Group (STEP-G) is supporting the Tiegel Children’s House in Hettstedt, which is run by Kinderschutzbund MSH e.V.

For a number of years, the staff at STEP-G have been collecting donations at company celebrations. They collect money or material donations which then go to social or charity organisations that support local people in need. Every possible way of raising funds has been included, from lotteries of the company’s own give-aways and suppliers’ gifts to material donations to in-house sales of pre-owned objects. Even the smallest contributions make a difference. The campaign always focuses on a regional social or charity organisation.

This year STEP-G chose to back the Tiegel Children’s House in Hettstedt with material donations. The donated items will be used as prizes in the lottery planned for the organisation’s summer party. Items to a value of several hundred euros were collected and handed over to the charity Kinderschutzbund MSH e. V. by Markus Backmann, Plant Manager of STEP-G Bitterfeld and Hettstedt, and Andrea Borrmann, a member of the STEP-G works council.

Elke Hickel, Head of support programmes for schools, and Anja Libeau, Head of the facility in Hettstedt, are delighted to receive the generous donation from the STEP-G Group. Anja Libeau explains: “The focus of our work at the Tiegel Children’s House in Hettstedt is defending children’s rights. We want to help children grow up in an environment that benefits their development. Part of that is offering families uncomplicated, fast support and lowering barriers that might stop them seeking help.”

The charity provides advice for children, young people and families. It also has a multi-generational approach and offers help with education. Apart from this support, Kinderschutzbund also runs a varied range of prevention projects that promote awareness in society that can help protect child welfare and children’s rights as well as improve the living conditions of children and families.

Andrea Borrmann of the STEP-G works council emphasises: “As a major employer in the region, we take our social responsibility for the wellbeing of our STEP-G employees seriously. This is an ongoing task.” It’s important to everybody involved to support and help local people in need with either financial or material means. “And it’s not just about recognising our basic social responsibility. Our hearts and minds really are behind these efforts.” “We believe this regional support makes an important impact. Every time, we’re delighted with how generously our staff donate to good causes. It’s all down to our employees’ willingness to help that we’re able to support important charity and social facilities like the Tiegel Children’s House in Hettstedt”, says Markus Backmann.
